Barcombe - Old Butchers Conversion (Listed Building)
The Old Butchers of Barcombe which dates back to the 1700's is a lovely building in the heart of the high street and as you can see needed some work doing to it to bring it back to its real beauty. Due to its position in Barcombe the customers were keen to get it back to looking great again, one of the perks of it being a listed building was that it ensured everything went back as per the original build which is in keeping with the rest of Barcombe. We started off by removing the old cladding and canopy carefully. As you can seeover the years the middle of the house had dropped which was becoming unsafe to live in so we had to sort this issue as soon as possible, our first action was to lift the building back up to a more level position on Acro props making the building safe again, our structural engineer designed a new 'flitch' beam which will stop this building sagging for many years to come. The existing cladding we had removed was rotten and worn meaning it needed replacing, due to its design we had to machine the new cladding at our in-house joinery workshop, all of the timber that we put back on the external parts of the house was sent off for special Vac-Vac treatment to ensure its lifespan is as long as possible. once everything was fitted we used special paints to get a wonderful finish, this also included painting the handrail that has gone back on the canopy whichis the original handrail which was sent off to a specialist to get a revamp. The last finishing touches included the landscaping on the front using traditional paving to make the whole finish on the job better than we ever imagined.
